Behind every chimney we rebuild there’s a guy who really knows brick. On this job in downtown Hudson, that guy was Viktor.

Viktor has been with us for about 10 years, and chimneys are his thing. He’s done a lot of them. Watch him work and you’ll see he doesn’t rush — he checks every brick, packs every joint, and won’t start the next row until the one below it is right. That’s just how he is.

The Job in Hudson

The chimney on this Columbia County building was past the point of a simple patch. The top part had taken years of weather and was falling apart. The bottom was still solid. So Viktor took down only the bad section and rebuilt it from there, row by row, matching the new brick to the old so it wouldn’t look patched.

That’s the difference between a chimney repair and a chimney rebuild. A repair fixes up masonry that’s still good. A rebuild replaces the part that’s too far gone. Knowing which one you actually need — and being straight with you about it — is a big part of the job.

Why the Details Matter

Chimneys around here take a beating. Water gets into the brick, freezes at night, and thaws in the day — over and over, all winter. That’s what slowly pulls old masonry apart. The only way to beat it is to do the work right the first time: the right mortar, full joints, a good crown on top to shed water, and tight flashing where the chimney meets the roof.

You can’t see most of that from the ground. But it’s exactly the stuff Viktor cares about, because he’d rather build it once and build it right.

Who We Are

We’re Home Evolution Roofing. Roofing is in the name, but chimney work like Viktor’s is a big part of what we do. We cover 22 counties in New York plus Vermont, with offices in Albany, Utica, and Poughkeepsie — and the Poughkeepsie crew keeps us close to Hudson and the rest of the Hudson Valley.

If your chimney is showing its age — crumbling mortar, a stain near the fireplace, a few loose bricks — let someone who does this every day take a look. Check out our chimney repair and rebuild services, or book a free chimney inspection and we’ll tell you straight what it needs. Might even be Viktor on your roof.
